With more and more US majors keeping an eye on the Latin American market, Disney Media Networks Latin America has signed an agreement with Brazil’s TV channel Rede Telecine.

Rede Telecine now has broadcast rights for The Walt Disney Company’s movies for its pay-TV premium service. The agreement will last for three years and will allow Telecine to offer a comprehensive range of the Walt Disney Pictures, as well as Dreamworks, Marvel, Miravista, Patagonik, Disney Nature and Pixar’s contents. Some of the major titles within this agreement include Cars 2, Tangled, Tron: Legacy and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

On signing the agreement, Fernando Barbosa, Senior Vice President at Disney Media Networks, said: “We are very enthusiastic to introduce our contents through the leader of the Brazilian premium pay-TV market.”

The lack of the financial and economic crisis in the Latin America is a key factor for the growing interest in the region. Brazil has the biggest audiovisual market in Latin America, followed by Argentina and Colombia.
